Outer Banks Fishing Report June 14, 2011

Sorry for the long break between reports.  Work has been nuts.  But here you go…

Finally. The fishing is great. The wind switched to North and the water temp is 75 degrees.
The Fritz Boyden Memorial Youth fishing tournament will be June 15th at all 4 piers.
Registration at 7:00 AM. Fishing- 8:00 AM-12:00PM. 4 to 9 yrs old, 10 to 16 yrs old.

Surf Fishing Report:
Spot, Flounder, Bluefish and Sea Mullet.

Sound Fishing Report:

The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported Trout caught and released. Only 2 more days and we can keep 6/day, 14 in Trout.
The Oregon Inlet Bridge anglers are catching nice Sheepshead.

Pier Fishing Report:

  • Avalon: Spanish, Blues and Flounder.
  • Nags Head: Blues and Flounder.
  • Jennette’s: Blues, Flounder, Trout and Spanish.
  • Outer Banks: Flounder, Spot and Blues casting with lures.

Inshore Boats Report:
Inshore boats had lots of Spanish and Bluefish. Lots of Triggers caught by bottom fishermen. Open boats caught Flounder, Croaker, Sharks, Tailor Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel.

Offshore Boats Report:
Really big big-Eye Tuna was caught yesterday. Plenty of Yellowfin and Dolphin. Billfish caught and released.
