Outer Banks Fishing Report June 16, 2011

Surf Fishing Report:
Today is the day you can keep Trout. Trout season is here. 6/day, 14 in and only 2 over 24 in.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported Speckle Trout, Gray Trout, Black Drum and Spot. I was told the Trout were biting on cut bait.
Oregon Inlet Bridge anglers are catching black Drum and Sheepshead.

Pier Fishing Report:

  • Avalon: Blues and Mullet.
  • Nags Head: Bottom fish.
  • Jennette’s: Blues and Triggers.
  • Outer Banks: Blues, Spanish, Sea Mullet and Flounder. Pier fishing picked up later in the day.

Inshore Boats Report:
Near shore boats caught Spanish, Amberjack, Bluefish and Triggers. Really good fishing.
Miss Oregon Inlet headboat caught Flounder. Wreck fishing was good, boaters caught Tilefish and Sea Bass.

Offshore Boats Report:
Billfish action was tops on Wednesday. Oregon Inlet reported 15 white Marlin, a few Sailfish and Blue Marlin. Nice Gaffer Dolphin and plenty Yellowfin Tuna are caught most days.
